Pub pair set for fundraiser

-

A couple will celebrate their seventh year at a village pub by launching a campaign to raise £10,000 for the Pilgrims Hospice.

Harry Taylor and Rene Renault, of the Red Lion at Bridge, will host a party for friends and regulars next weekend when they will begin fundraising for the charity.

Mr Renault is leading a team of cyclists on a 1,000-mile cycle from the north to the south of his native France in May next year in a journey called Le Jog.

The avid cyclist said: “We have such a mix of clientele and we are grateful for all of them. The couple came to Bridge seven years ago from London, where Mr Renault had worked in some of its most exclusive restaurants.

Mr Taylor, a computer expert originally from America, said: “We honestly just fell in love with this place as we drove in.” The party and launch takes place at the pub from 7pm on Saturday, September 23.
