Thanet Road Club pair Oliver Robinson and Toby Perry represented the South East at the Junior Tour of Wales.

Four stages started with a time trial at Brynmawr before taking the riders through Abergavenny into the Neath Valley, 11 laps around Parc Bryn Bach in Tredegar, then on to Penpergwm in Monmouthshire, before finishing with a 94k trip through the Brecon Beacons, ending at the summit of Tumble, a climb that has featured in the Tour of Britain.

Robinson was 62nd overall and Perry 88th. Thanet head coach and South East team manager Colin Robinson said: “The race is the longest and toughest junior race in the United Kingdom.

“Geraint Thomas, Mark Cavendish, Alex Dowsett and Dan Martin have ridden in it before and many of the riders in this year’s race are still only 17 and 18 and will secure professional contracts.

“Oliver and Toby and the other South East riders performed well.”
