New initiative had something for all

Polo Farm Sports Club threw open its doors at the weekend for Canterbury Hockey Club’s first ever Hockeyfest.

As part of a national initiative the club welcomed scores of visitors to the Littlebour­ne Road venue on Saturday to see top class players in action and view the facilities the club offer.

The on-field action got underway with the men’s 2nd XI playing Burnt Ash while a club XI took on Rochford Casuals and at the same time the club’s ladies trials were taking place at the same time.

The ladies 1st team hosted big-guns Wimbledon while the men’s 1sts met Old Georgians straight after.

The day also featured a mini beer festival, a beat the goalie competitio­n, stalls and a raffle aswell as Back to Hockey sessions aimed at people who either haven’t played hockey for years or who are considerin­g playing for the first time.
