Canterbury City Girls’ under-16s started their Kent Ladies and Girls Division 1 campaign with a 4-3- win over rival Swale Ladies at Community College. City completely dominated the first half but struggled to finish, going into the break with a 1- 0 lead thanks to a welltaken goal from Kloee Worboyes. City quickly went 3- 0 up in the second half after goals from Isabel Cory and a stunning acrobatic effort from winger and player-of-the-match Libby Rowland that had both sets of spectators applauding. Swale hit back with three long-range goals in quick succession as City lost concentrat­ion but Ella Wilson grabbed the winner for the visitors with just five minutes to go. Coach Paul Stevens said: “We almost came unstuck in the second half but some of the football played was outstandin­g.” Team: Vergo, Walker, Day, Tritton, Howard, Harris, Jordan, Cory, Pollard, Stevens. Canterbury Eagles Under-13s found their form ahead of the new East Kent Youth League season, beating Sturry Kings 14-2 at home in a friendly. Eagles dominated throughout, playing some excellent one-touch football and keeping possession well. Monty Saunders led the scoring with five and also claimed an assist. Kuame Hinds-clarke added four with Josh Hall and Jack Goodall netting two each and Leandro Ramos the other. Dylan Saunders chipped in with three assists and Thomas Hayes with one.manager’s man-of-the match was Hinds-clarke with Monty Saunders being parents’ player-of-the-match.
