Dramatic footage has emerged of a late-night ram raid on a warehouse storing a fleet of private ambulances.

Exclusive CCTV images obtained by the Gazette show the moment a Range Rover smashed through shutters on a unit at the Chislet Business Park in Hersden.

The black 4x4 is seen reversing at speed into the door, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to vehicles owned by Southern England Independent Ambulance Service.

The driver, dressed in grey, then enters the warehouse before loading the Range Rover up with boxes and racing off as the alarm sounds.

He was in and out of the building within 90 seconds of the raid at 10.15pm on Tuesday.

Jack Brabham, who has worked for the company for the past month as a cleaner, says the firm is still calculating the loss, but the damage to the ambulances will run into the thousands.

“The outside wall smashed onto two of the ambulances,” he said.

“We’re not sure about everything that was taken, but we came in this morning to see boxes outside everywhere.

“It was a real mess inside, and has really damaged the vehicles.

“It’ll cost thousands to repair them. They’re not normal cars.”

Police were contacted for a comment but had not responded as the Gazette went to press.
