Kentish Gazette Canterbury & District

Congratulations –

-

David Ryan, director, private secretary’s office, Buckingham Palace: I have been asked to thank you for your kind letter to The Queen on behalf of the Kentish Gazette on the occasion of your 300th anniversary which is being celebrated this year.

Her Majesty appreciated your thoughtfulness in writing as you did and, in return, has asked me to send her warm good wishes to all concerned for a most memorable year.

Theresa May, Prime Minister: I would like to send my warmest wishes to everyone at the Kentish Gazette as the paper celebrates its 300th anniversary this month. For centuries the Gazette has informed and entertained its readers, celebrated local heroes and championed campaigns. As one of the country’s oldest papers, the Gazette has clearly earned an important place in the heart of the community it serves.

This significant milestone is testament to the commitment and hard work of everyone at the Gazette which has won the trust and loyalty of its readers year after year. Congratulations and I wish you all the best for the years to come.

The Viscount De L’isle, Lord Lieutenant of Kent: Many congratulations to all those engaged in publishing the Kentish Gazette on achieving your tercentenary. Regional newspapers have played a very significant part in keeping us all informed of important local events both in news and social activities. The digital revolution in the 21st century has transformed the way you need to distribute your output while still maintaining your high standards. Best of luck in the next 100 years.

Orlando Bloom, Patron of The Marlowe Youth Theatre: Happy 300th! Congratulations on reaching this milestone.

Being involved with The Marlowe Youth Theatre, I know the Gazette recently ran a story about our members’ performance at The National Theatre in London. The performance received wide social media coverage but the actors thought it was particularly special to read about it in print in the Gazette. It seems that old school is still cool!

Thank you for supporting us and all the local arts over the years.

Rupert Murdoch, chairman, News Corporation: I was delighted to hear of the 300th anniversary of the Kentish Gazette. I hope you have many more decades ahead of you. It is so important that we continue to produce compelling journalism and that we make the economics work for our businesses. Congratulations to the Kentish Gazette on your 300th year. What a great achievement and long may your journalism continue to thrive.
