Bostik South

-

Herne Bay slumped to their fourth defeat in a row on Tuesday night. They’re now 11th in Bostik South after going down 6-2 at second-placed Whyteleafe. Jerry Amoo fired Leafe into a sixth-minute lead although Bay were soon level through Danny Rumbol. Nkori-venceslas Bola restored Whyteleafe’s advantage with a goal nine minutes before half-time but the sides went into the break all-square thanks to Thomas Carlton’s 41st-minute strike. However, it was one-way traffic in the second half as Whyteleafe ran riot. Daniel Ajakaiye scored two goals in five minutes around the hour mark and Ambrose Gnahore made it 5-2 before Scott Day completed the rout six minutes from time. Elsewhere, struggling Faversham managed to end their run of seven straight losses. They took on a Cray Wanderers side who scored eight goals at the weekend, but Ray Turner’s side kept a first home clean sheet of the season as it finished 0-0. Town are 21st with just seven points from 11 league matches. Both clubs exited the FA Trophy at the preliminary round stage on Saturday. Faversham travelled to Waltham Abbey, where goals from Shad Ngandu and Christian Assombalonga had them trailing 2-0 at halftime. Luke Griffiths pulled one back on 66 minutes but it was the Bostik North side who went through. Herne Bay were beaten 3-0 at Cheshunt with all the goals coming in the second half. It was still goalless with 22 minutes to go but Callum Ellersley broke the deadlock before two Adam Wallace strikes sent Bay crashing out. The visitors finished with 10 men after Raphe Brown was sent off two minutes from time.
