Barton treble in vain

Tom Barton’s hat-trick was not enough to save Faversham Strike Force from defeat in Bill Manklow Inter-regional Challenge Cup on Saturday. They were beaten 5-3 in the second round at Kings Hill. A young visiting side, featuring six under-18 players, were 4-0 down in the first half before a Barton strike provided a glimmer of hope going into the break. Strike Force showed strong resolve to edge the second half and Barton completed his triple from the spot after Jordan Haylett was brought down following a run into the box. It was all too little, too late, though as the home side ran out winners. The Force return to Kent County League Premier Division action this weekend when they travel to Staplehurst.
