Fright night boosts charity funds

-

Ghastly ghouls and wicked witches packed out The Limes in Canterbury after it was transformed into a black forest for Halloween.

The spooky get-together at the Rosemary Lane venue was held on Friday to raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust and the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Owner Tony Butcher says numbers were up on last year and every one had a wonderful time.

“There was no trouble, it was a really happy event,” he said.

“I cut trees from my garden and brought the outside in and it looked brilliant. It makes it a bit more exciting.

“People brought their children along and we had support from our neighbours who I would like to thank. “It really was a lovely event.” Mr Butcher says they are still in the process of counting how much they raised, but think it is about £150 for the Terrence Higgins Trust.

“I know how desperate they are for funds,” he said.

“It’s small potatoes but every little bit helps.”
