Moving out

-

A village post office is set to be uprooted and moved to a shop more than a mile away.

Bosses propose shifting the branch in Shalmsford Street, Chartham, to new premises at the NK Minimart in Godfrey Gardens.

Services will be offered from a till on the retail counter, with extended operating hours.

The change is part of a modernisation programme across Post Office counters.

The Post Office has launched a six-week consultation, which ends on December 13.

The move could take place in February or March.
