Cause to enjoy
More than 300 guests, staff, volunteers and clients have celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Canterbury Umbrella Centre. The building in St Peter’s Place opened in 1992 with a charity appeal to support people with mental health issues after the closure of St Augustine’s Hospital, Chartham.
Now supported by local businesses, the drop-in centre provides a haven for visitors, including anyone feeling isolated and lonely. It offers a range of leisure activities as well as a job club and adult education services.
