Oyster Indoor Bowls Club ladies made a good start to the new year with a convincing win at home in the Kent League against Swale. They won on every rink and with an overall score of 144-85 they got 10 points. Rinks: Sheila Bartholome­w, Diana Whybrow, Sylvia Whiting, Sue Swan won 23-19; Sylvia Sweeting, Brenda Tilley, Pam Dennett, Hilary Avis won 18-13; Beverley Schulz, Jan Poynter, Madelene Mcconomy, Jacqueline Harvey won 37-17; Shirley Fey, Joy Burton, Dawn Harris, Eunice Holder won 26-11; Jeanette Saunders, Caroline Jordan, Penny Perkins, Janet Drewitt won 19-12; Christiann­e de Weduwe, Margaret Morris, Ros Cheeseman, Jan Allen won 21-11. There was also an away game at Essex County and although the rinks were shared, the Oyster lost 106-126. Rinks: Janet Pamphilon, Peter Mann, Madelene Mcconomy, David Appleton lost 10-32; Debbie Good, Les Bartholome­w, Chris Appleton, John Stroud lost 15-27; Jeanette Saunders, Diana Whybrow, Peter Gibson, John Day won 24-12; Richard Whybrow, Barbara Gordon, Pam Dennett,john Good lost 7-26; Keith Dennett, Yvonne Mann, Mo Gray, Hilary Avis won 19-16; Maurice Odell, Margaret Morris, Peter Boeg, Brian Gentle won 31-13. The men also played a Kent League game, at home against The Angel, Tonbridge. They won on four rinks and overall 143-95 for eight points. Rinks: Maurice Odell, David Appleton, David Charlton, Brian Gentle lost 15-22; Mark Crowhurst, Paul Drane, Karl Davies, John Cresswell won 25-13; Peter Hogston, Malcolm Scott, Mervyn Gulvin, Ian Burton won 19-17; Fred Masters, Brian Watson, Eddie Swan, Phil Scott-martin lost 19-21; Gordon Hayes, Russell Feast, Bernard Woodhams, Brian Gambrill won 25-10; Brian Maxted, Fred Goodger, Alan Kent, John Day won 27-12.
