Road race a sell out for first time
The Canterbury 10-Mile Road Race has sold out all 1,500 places for this year’s event.
The race takes place on Sunday, starting at 10am and there will be no entries available on the day. Start and finish is in Spring Lane, Canterbury.
Invicta East Kent runner, Abel Tsegay, will be going for his fourth straight victory and aims to improve his personal best around the course of 51min 36sec.
The ladies’ winner from 2017, Tonbridge AC’S Maria Heslop, is also back to defend her crown.
The race, organised by Invicta East Kent, is sponsored by car manufacturer Ssangyong and the running club have continued their collaboration with Christ Church University. Their sports centre continues as the race HQ.
There are cash prizes for the first three male and female runners and for the first finisher in all age-group categories. There are also prizes for the winning male and female teams.
All runners completing the course will receive a bespoke medal and free photographic downloads. There are also free massages at the finish, offered by Kesson Physiotherapy.
The race will again support the Pilgrims Hospices, £1,500 was donated to this worthwhile charity in 2017.
Race director Glenn Mousley said: “The 2017 race had the biggest field ever with a great atmosphere.
“We are pleased the 2018 race has proved even more popular and for the first time ever is a sell out.”
