Perennial finalists Smugglers A fail to make last four
Premier Division Smugglers Inn A were knocked out of the quarter-finals of the Herne Bay & District Winter Darts League Ken Cattell Team Cup by Division 1 side Angling Club A.
The Smugglers have made it to the last four cup finals – winning two – but found themselves 3-0 down after the pairs.
Anglers won both threes games and then there were singles wins for Mike Brett, Luke Adby, George Grosvenor and Kevin Moran to take a 9-2 win.
Tim Baker Snr and Richard Lee won their singles games for Smugglers.
Cup holders Smugglers Inn B eased into the semi-finals with an 11-0 win at Division 1 Catholic Club. Singles wins from Chris Dadd, Jordan Dadd, Joe Ralph, Richard Stevens, Keith Ralph and Benn Swinfield secured the easy win.
Divers Arms also made it to the semifinals after a 9-2 win at Angling Club B.
Divers took a 3-2 lead into the singles games and wins from Jason Adby and Paul Knight put them in control. Mark Sayer booked their place in the next round and there were also wins for Liam Moran, Mark Roberts and Anthony Crocker.
Hampton Inn won 11-0 at Chislet Colliery Club. There were singles wins for Clive Johnson, Steve Coker, Stacey Dawkins, Peter Furner, Paul Dawkins and Steve Moys.
Faversham Darts League leaders Railway kept their place at the top after a 6-3 win over the Football Club.
Railway had a 2-1 lead after the doubles but a strong singles performance took them to a 6-3 win, helped by a 180 from Ritchie Stevens.
Three Horseshoes B edged the Rugby Club 5-4, thanks to Pete Jones holding his nerve in the deciding singles game.
The Shoes led 2-1 after the pairs but it went down to the wire after singles wins for Nathan Sparks, Jason Mills and Brian Gosling for Rugby Club. Rob Forber and Neil Cole won their singles for the home team to set up the deciding game.
Bull A came away with a 9-0 victory over Boughton’s Queens Head.
Brents Tavern had a 8-1 win at Bull B, with Graham Amer getting the consolation for the home team.
Singles wins for Lee Grigsby, Steve Wright, Lewis Gore and John Wright helped Castle A to a 6-3 win over Market B.
Castle led 2-1 after the doubles and Market’s Craig Preston and Kiah Lee gave them a chance of a win before their opponents eased to victory.
Market A came away with a 7-2 victory over Castle B and The Three Tuns enjoyed a 6-3 home success against Three Horseshoes A.
Former WBC light heavyweight champion John Conteh at Faversham Golf Club
