Whit­stable’s Oys­ter In­door Bowls Club’s ladies’ team had a nar­row Kent League win against Sevenoaks de­spite only win­ning two of their rinks.

The score was tight go­ing into fi­nal stages with Oys­ter get­ting enough shots to win 106-101. Rink de­tails Pauline Hogston, Mar­garet Dance, Janet Whit­bread, Hi­lary Avis won 18-10; Ann Moon, Bar­bara Gor­don, Jan Poyn­ter, Jacque­line Har­vey lost 19-14; Sylvia Sweet­ing, Janet Pam­philon, Made­lene Mc­conomy, Yvonne Gam­brill lost 17-14; Bev­er­ley Sculz, Ali­son Mcdon­ald, Penny Perkins, Janet Dre­witt lost 18-17; Sheila Bartholomew, Glo­ria Clark, Dawn Har­ris, Eu­nice Holder lost 21-19; Chris­tianne de We­duwe, Sheila Tibby, Bar­bara Mcgil­licuddy, Sue Swan won 24-16.

The men had two Kent League matches, the first at home to Swale los­ing on two rinks but win­ning over­all by the nar­row mar­gin of 110-109 to give them eight points. The fi­nal league game was away to Ash­ford, where the Oys­ter only man­aged one rink win, los­ing over­all 155-76 to take just one point.
