Impressive Pearce wins county gold
City of Canterbury’s Thomas Pearce has enjoyed great success at the Kent Swimming Championships, winning two medals. Pearce won gold in the 12-year-old 200m backstroke and bronze in the 100m backstroke. There was also a bronze for George Casey in the men’s open 100m backstroke. Men’s backstroke has proved particularly promising, with Henry Pearce and Angus Lister also reaching the finals and Owain Collins narrowly missing out. The Kent Championships have been running for the past three weekends at Crystal Palace, with other 200m and 100m finalists including Margo Koets, Dan Seagrove-castle, Henry Pearce, Jessica Sugden and Samuel Gurung. Fourteen City of Canterbury swimmers have been selected to race at the championships with other competitors Abigail Pritchard, Chloe Sands, Fady Sheta, George Coles, Jenny Adams and Sam Woodard. Some are racing for the first time this weekend when the Championships culminate in a round of sprint racing in every stroke at the London Aquatic Centre, site of the 2012 Olympics.
