Setting ever higher standards Swimming
Emily Holt led the way with two wins as Faversham Swimming Club excelled at the East Invicta Championships. Holt produced two outstanding swims to earn two personal bests, two club records and a Kent Consideration Time in the girls’ 15 years 400m individual medley and freestyle events. Amy Coupe achieved three PBS and three Improved Kent Consideration Times in the girls’ 15 years 50m freestyle and butterfly and 100m backstroke. There was also a super swim from Emma Wickes who reached the girls’ 15 years 50m breaststroke final earning a PB, club record and an Improved Kent Consideration Time. Neve Smith recorded 7 PBS, five of which were Improved Kent Consideration Times, one Improved Kent Time and one Kent Time for the girls’ 11/12 years 100m breaststroke. Kent Times were achieved by Oliver Edwards, in the boys’ 13/14 years 100m and 50m breaststroke, while Scott Pearce achieved Kent Consideration Times in the boys’ 13/14years 50m butterfly and freestyle. Molly Fletcher Hebden swum her way to seven PBS, three Kent Consideration Times and an Improved Kent Consideration Time on her way to the final in the girls’ 15+ years 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly. Amber Gavin had a successful swim in the 9/10 years’ 50m backstroke securing a PB. The squad also had several good results in the relays, with the girls’ 9/10 years 4x50m medley team being the most successful, achieving a third place overall. This team consisted of Leena, Jessica, Molly and Amber. All the swimmers were a credit to the club, and the coaches that were poolside commended the excellent team spirit and the way the children all worked together to support each other.
