Aiming for a perfect 10

-

Canterbury Rugby Club will be looking to protect their proud home record when they resume their National 2 South season on Saturday. The city club host Old Redcliffians, having won all seven of their league games at the Marine Travel Ground this season. They also secured wins in their last two home games of last season, meaning victory against the Bristol-based side would give them a perfect 10. Head of rugby Andy Pratt admits Canterbury’s home form has been key to their success this season – they finished 2018 in third – but he won’t be taking anything for granted against Redcliffians who have won their last three matches. Pratt, whose side last lost at home on March 10 last year, said: “The lads take great pride in our home performances this season but it’s a record that’s there to be taken. “The first game back (after Christmas) is always a tricky one because training has been disrupted and it’s not your normal run-in. “We produced a good performance down there in September (when they triumphed 43-21) but that’s history now, it will have no relevance this weekend. “Redcliffians are dangerous opponents and after three wins they’ll be confident. “We need to be wary, show them respect and prepare in the right manner.” Canterbury were due to train last night (Wednesday) and again tonight and Pratt is looking forward to having several injured players back in the next few weeks.
