Scam warning

-

The city council has issued a warning after reports of scammers contacting residents across the district. A spokesman said: “Criminals sometimes pretend to be the council to persuade you to give them your bank details. “If you receive an email from us asking for your bank details so that we can send you a council tax refund, please don’t respond. If you are due a refund, we will always send you a new council tax bill.” Anyone who receives a suspicious email or letter claiming to be from the council is urged to call customer services on 01227 862300 or visit canterbury.gov.uk/ contact.
