Park and Ride cuts pollution

- David Spencer Dering Close, Bridge

The letter from Susan Kilczewski [Gazette, January 3] about requiring more inner city car parking spaces misses the point, and that is that the growth of car traffic will always outgrow the available inner city parking spaces, which is why Park and Ride became the norm for many large towns and cities.

While it is likely that an increase in parking spaces will be needed for P&R in the future, the present system provides all-day shopping for a very reasonable £3.50, with as many trips to and from the car as the user requires. And without any increase in inner city pollution!
