Plan revealed for crumbling farm

-

A derelict farm dating back to the 15th century could be transformed into eight new homes.

New plans have been submitted by Stonebrook Properties Ltd to build six new houses and restore two original buildings at Sweech Farm in Sturry.

The scheme involves the restoration of the thatched barn which was blown down in a storm and to create new homes in the former stable block and oast, and old milk parlour.

Previous bids were approved in 2010 and 2012 to restore the barn and build new homes, but since then, the Grade II listed buildings have deteriorated.

Paul Mason and Symon Hawken from Stonebrook Properties say they want to preserve and enhance the heritage assets.

The development in Herne Bay Road would include a pair of two-storey cottages and a two-storey home, the conversion of the former oast building to a single home, the conversion of the thatched barn to a home, the restoration of the granary and the replacement of the milking parlour with three new houses.
