Rising star ready to blow you away
Award-winning saxophonist Jonathan Radford will perform for Canterbury Music Club accompanied by accomplished pianist Eleanor Kornas.
Radford is a celebrated musician, praised for his “exceptional musicianship and emotive playing”, and is a gold medallist of the 2018 Royal OverSeas League Music Competition.
He also featured as a rising star in the BBC Music Magazine.
He studied at Chetham’s School of Music and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and has given recitals at major venues in Europe, including Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square and the Centre Pompidou and Philharmonie in Paris.
On Sunday, January 13, he will perform for Canterbury Music Club, accompanied by pianist Kornas, who also studied at Chetham’s and went on to read music at the University of Cambridge.
While studying, Kornas also performed with Trinity College Chapel Choir and was its first female organ scholar.
She was awarded the ForbesDunlop Grant by the Women’s Careers Foundation, which enabled her to work as an Adami Award junior fellow in piano accompaniment at the Royal College of Music.
She is now head of keyboard at Queen Margaret’s School near York.
The Canterbury Music Club concert is on at 3pm at St Gregory’s Centre for Music, in North Holmes Road, Canterbury.
