Society set to perform Rent
An amateur production of the classic Broadway musical Rent is coming to the Marlowe Theatre.
The University of Kent’s Musical Theatre Society will be performing the story of a group of impoverished New York artists during the 1980s AIDS crisis on Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2.
Set in the city’s bohemian East Village, the musical deals with the fall-out of addiction and disease over the course of 12 months starting on Christmas Eve in 1989.
With memorable characters such as Angel, a drag queen who earns money drumming on the street, and the exotic dancer Mimi, the story chronicles a year of life, death, love and hope.
Tickets are available for £11.25 at www.marlowetheatre. com.
