Amer treble at heart of cup upset

Kieran Amer’s hat-trick helped The Elephant pull off an upset in the second round of the Herne Bay & Whitstable League’s Faversham Charity Cup, Senior Section. The Division 1 outfit ousted top flight side Tankerton Royals 4-3, with Matt Hennessey their other marksman. Joe Walker (2) and Nick Burns replied for Royals. Waterfront eased past Woodmans Hall 8-1 while Chartham needed extra time before beating A1 Tyres 3-1. The Druids won 6-3 against The Heron in the Junior Section, second round aided by doubles for Greg Lee and Jeremy Lee. Charlie Fournier was also on target, with the tally completed by an own goal. Faversham United got home 2-0 against Northgate Rangers in their third round tie. Premier Division leaders Monument PFC beat Crusaders 4-0 in the Fletcher Memorial Cup, second round with Ashley Kohler scoring twice. There was a goal apiece for Danny Williams and Matty Rain. Jack Winder claimed a double as Chislet triumphed 5-0 away to Chilham. Callum Kennelly and Jack Waite also netted, with the fifth being an own goal. The prolific Nathan Perry added two more to his season’s tally in Littlebour­ne’s 5-1 home win over Monument Reserves in the opening round of the President’s Cup. Dom Hooper, Karl Farbrace and an own goal made up their five, with Callum Mason scoring Monument’s consolatio­n. The second round tie between City Lions and Faversham Strike Force finished at two each after extra time, but it was Strike Force who went through 3-2 on penalties. Joe Walters and Oliver Stevens netted the City goals. Monument A pipped Oare 4-3 in the second round of the Whitstable Charity Cup, Junior Section with two of the goals coming from Jordan Girling. Jack Hanson and Joe Smith added the others. Tankerton overcame Blean Sunday 5-2. Wingham edged Hampton 5-4 in the Premier Division, while in Division 2 Herne Bay Athletic and Bay United played out a 2-2 draw. United’s goals came from Buddy Rowden and Jon Hancock.
