Lego show a little piece of history
Iconic moments in British history will be shown in Lego form at the Beaney museum next month.
The exhibition will boast 30 models of the nation’s most recognisable scenes, including an eight-metre model of The Flying Scotsman, the world’s most famous steam locomotive complete with lights, sounds and smoke effects.
Featuring exhibits from the Stone Age through to the modern day, more than 150,000 Lego bricks have been used for this trip back through time.
As well as appreciating the brick models, visitors will be able to make sets of their own in a 70,000-piece brick pit.
Cllr Neil Baker, chairman of the city council’s community committee, said: “Lego is loved by kids, and much bigger kids, so this exhibition is one that’s not to be missed.
“And once you’ve marvelled at the incredible models on display, you can get cracking on making your own inspiring creations.
“This is going to be a very popular event and early booking is recommended so you don’t miss out.”
Bricks Britannia: A History of Britain in Lego Bricks opens at The Beaney on Saturday, February 9 and runs until Sunday, February 24.
Admission is £6.50 for adults, £6 for concessions and £5 for children. Under threes go free.
