Canterbury Harriers enjoyed individual and team success in the Kent Masters Cross-country Championsh­ips at Dartford.

Ian Stokes, running as a male vet-60, covered the approximat­e 5k course around Central Park in 21minutes 41seconds to claim individual bronze. Harriers also finished third in the team category with Stokes being joined by Simon Cox, 16th in 23,27, and Tom Hooley, 24th in 24.11.

Tina Jones (V72) clocked 30.52 to take silver in the female vet-65 category while there was a team silver for the women’s over-55s.

Liz Batty (VF63) was seventh in 26.00, just one place and 50 seconds ahead of clubmate Wendy Smith (VF61). Karen Hoult (VF55) completed the medal-winning line-up finishing 19th in 33.38. Gerry Reilly (V71) clocked 27.30 for 11th in the male vet-70 class, with Geoff Burston (V70) two places further back in 28.27. John Hartley (V73) was 22nd in 32.28.

Andy Phi l l i p s ( V56) , t he c l ub’ s s o l e representa­tive in the male vet-50 category, came home 59th in 38.17.

Other results in the men’s male-60class, were: 27 Steve Clark (V66) 25.08, 34 Andy Farrant (V63) 26.30, 35 Bob Davison (V65) 26.33, 40 Tony Savage (V65) 27.50, 41 John Cooper (V60) 27.57, 47 Joe Hicks (V66) 29.23.

Ian Stokes – who turned 60 on November 20 – had run in Spain the weekend before clocking 39.33 to finish 103rd in the San Sebastian 10k. Barbara and Mark Wenman ran the halfmarath­on, c l o c ki ng 1 : 4 0 . 0 3 and 1 : 4 3 . 2 0 respective­ly.
