Canterbury Photographic Society

Robin Harmsworth travelled from Tunbridge Wells on Wednesday to judge the Open Print competition. CPS members had submitted almost 60 images and Robin was under huge pressure to deliver a fair critique on each image and award scores and then present certificates before the polling station was set up ready for the General Election the following morning.

He did an excellent job with 5 minutes to spare. At half time ex club chairman, Dave Cornelius donated Christmas cakes which were enjoyed by all. Robin held back quite a few images for a second look but his overall winners were Sarah Vinall with Stillness and Shimmer and Sandy Littlejohn with Climate Changeremember Me.

Several Highly commended certificates were awarded to a wide variety of images.

Red Lacewing Butterfly by Philip Wells, Once More with Attitude by Sandra Littlejohn, young Sparrow Trying to Rest by Jo Court, Seashore and also Whoops-a-daisy by Pete Smith, Three Inch High Pewter King Arthur by Dave Roberts and No Chips by Chris Williamson. Members will return after the Christmas break on Wednesday January 8. There will be a practical Still Life photography evening planned and members are being encouraged to bring in a variety of props and lighting equipments. The club website is in the process of an upgrade and should be fully functioning in the new year.
