GREEN BINS
The controversial plan to annually charge you £45 for garden waste collections will definitely be introduced in June.
Despite critics warning of increased fly-tipping and bonfires, the council is introducing the new fee in order to rake in millions over the next few years.
The charge will equate to £2.13 per collection, but bins will still not be emptied in January or February. Cllr Mike Sole warned that the new fee will “create so many environmental problems” for the district. But other opposition councillors defended the introduction of the charge by stressing that residents will opt for the easy option of coughing up £45 rather than going out of their way to rid themselves of the garden waste.
