New city art competition launched
A new art competition is offering young people the chance to have their work exhibited at a professional gallery.
The Canterbury Art Prize open to 15 to 18-year-olds in east Kent - has launched as part of the St Edmund’s Arts Festival, in partnership with The Canterbury Auction Galleries. The inaugural theme is “architecture” and accepted media includes drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media. The overall winner will receive a trophy, a £100 prize, and two places on St Edmund’s School’s art workshop with renowned artist Ian Murphy. They will also have the opportunity for their work to be publicly exhibited, at St Edmund’s Arts Festival from June 24, then at the prestigious Lilford Gallery in Canterbury. The deadline is May 15.
