Canterbury men’s 1sts continued their impressive run of form with a 3-1 victory at Teddington on Sunday. They have now won three games on the spin in Division 1 South.
They were given the perfect start when Richard Keir put them ahead after just two minutes.
The home side pulled level with a penalty corner effort in the 48th minute but Canterbury responded with two goals in three minutes.
Adam Lee-browne put them ahead in the 52nd minute and soon after Callum Brown-lea extended the lead.
Canterbury, fifth in the table, have won five times from 13 games but face a sterner test on Sunday when they take on leaders Oxted at Polo Farm (12.30pm). The Pilgrims opened up a three-point gap at the top of the table over Herne Bay when they defeated their nearest challengers 4-2 in Kent/sussex Regional 2 on Saturday.
With the Pilgrims starting to dominate Bay, Jake Smith put the visitors in front with a drag flick. Dave Shelley doubled the lead with the assist coming from Seth Coode, and young left-back Emil Pederson scored his first goal in the men’s league as the Pilgrims ended the first half 3-1 ahead.
The Pilgrims’ goal in the second half was a deflected effort from Alex Rydon.
Canterbury Millers were beaten 8-3 by second-fromtop K Sports in Kent Division 2.
