Comic book fun for little heroes
Superman, Wonder Woman and Captain America were joined by fellow heroes as hundreds of youngsters enjoyed a comic book exhibition during halfterm.
A week-long show at The Beaney saw more than 1,600 people enjoy the colourful mix of magazines on display. Comic fans of all ages enjoyed the exhibition, with visitors seeing a range of artwork spanning across a number of decades.
As well as well-known international superheroes, work showcasing illustrations of iconic British characters including Dennis the Menace and Desperate Dan were also displayed
Props, a word generator, character creator and other interactive activities were on offer throughout the week at the exhibition. Chairman of the council’s community committee, Cllr Neil Baker, hailed the event a resounding success
He said: “It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the wonderful world of comics at our recent exhibition. “With more than 1,600 people visiting, it’s another great example of what The Beaney has to offer, and we’d encourage everyone to keep an eye out for some of their upcoming exhibitions which are set to be just as exciting.” The exhibition - Comics: Explore and Create Comic Art - was organised by the city council and run by Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books.
