Winder’s treble helps keep county cup dream alive

Jack Winder’s hat-trick helped fire Chislet into the last four of the Kent Sunday Premier Cup. Ted Johnson added the other goal as the Herne Bay and Whitstable Sunday League Premier Division leaders won 4-1 at Shorne. Also through to the semis are SE Dons and Dolphin Kings United, while the remaining quarter-final, between Sun and Chatham Town Sunday, takes place this weekend.

Both the league’s other county cup representa­tives progressed with Monument Reserves securing a 3-1 success over Charcott to progress to the semi-finals of the Kent Junior Cup.

Aaron Garvey, Joe Smith, Kailaan Webb were their marksmen.

Herne United went through in the Kent Junior Trophy, Izy Sargeant’s treble, added to a goal from Ritchie Bobbett, earning them a 4-1 victory over Park Regis Fountain.

They, too, are into the last four.

Owen Fitt claimed a hat-trick as Monument beat Heron Athletic 6-1 to move witin two points of Chislet at the top of the Premier Division.

Bret Pitcher, Callum Mason and Jamie Purdy were the other scorers.

Blean Sunday edged Hampton 3-2 in Division 1, while Faversham Strike Force (Ethan Gawley and Tom Waters) and Druids (Chris Barratt and Greg Lee) played out a 2-2 draw. Northgate Rangers and Canterbury Toon shared six goals in Division 2, with Phil Russell (2) and Mason Nutt on target for Rangers. Toon surrendere­d top spot as a result of that draw with The Heron taking over on goal difference courtesy of their 4-1 win against Canterbury Bombers (Antony Pampidas). Heron also have two games in hand. Dover Colts were 5-2 victors over Dawes Hernhill Herons in the Invitation Cup, Joel Fraser and Luke James netting for Dawes, while in the Challenge Cup round two The Elephant beat Woodmans Hall 2-1.
