Strike Force collect point

Faversham Strike Force

-

Faversham Strike Force took a battling point from a goalless draw at Peckham Town in the Kent County League Premier Division. A tight game looked set to hinge on a second-half red card for the Force’s Ally Wren, who was adjudged to be the last man when he brought down an opponent. The visitors dug in to claim a deserved point, with Tom Carey’s excellent fingertip save on to the bar representing the only major scare. Adam Benfield was outstanding and picked up the man-of-the-match award. “The last 20 minutes was quite nervy but I felt we deserved at least a point with neither team really creating too many guiltedged chances,” said Force manager Gary Axford. “Most teams will struggle at Peckham this season - it was a fair result in the end.” Strike Force Women claimed a second league win in three games with a 4-1 victory at University of Kent.

The Force went ahead with a counter-attack goal from Jade Hayes and added another through Emma Brown after the break. The points were sealed by supersub Millie Wallace who scored and then forced an own goal from a corner. Under-11 Lightning put in a solid performance in challenging conditions away to Deal Town Rangers with their goals coming through Archie Brazil, Tom Martin, Alex Gerdzhikov and Toby Sears. Oliver Jobe was named player-of-the-match. The excellent start to the season made by under-10 Lightning continued against Canterbury Eagles. Theodor Vancea scored a screamer from inside his own half, Austin Wanmer grabbed another following some excellent team play, Henry Gossling added a penalty and Albert Biscoe slotted home after a mazing run by Roman Lee. Ollie Gilbert Childs was named best player on the day.

Under-10 Thunder enjoyed a fast-paced encounter against Herne Bay Harriers with goals coming through Harry Wilson’s composed finish, Edward Lambourn’s drive and further strikes from Ethan Stanley and Ethan Whelan. Player-of-the-match was Kailan Wallace for his relentless effort and superb reading of the game. Elliott Jones picked up that award for under-8 Lightning after he followed up a firsthalf hat-trick with a brace of second-half penalty saves against Whitstable Town. Other goals came through Finn Crawley and Reuben Wilkinson in an exciting and evenly-matched game.
