Town hit for six at home
Whitstable Town
Whitstable Town suffered a shock home thumping on Tuesday night.
Kent rivals Hythe Town thrashed them 6-0, with three goals in each half, to end a run of three straight league wins for the Oystermen.
Town, who conceded seven goals in their opening two Isthmian League South East games, appeared to have got themselves on track with a flurry of wins but were brought back down to earth by Hythe.
The rampant visitors took the lead with an 18th-minute penalty from Alex Flisher and a quickfire double just before the break from Alex Brown left them in trouble.
Tom Walmsley made it 4-0 five minutes after the restart, Brown completed his hat-trick soon after and Walmsley added a sixth on 66 minutes. Thankfully it got no worse for Lloyd Blackman’s men at The Belmont.
Town had gone into the game off the back of a hard-earned 1-0 win over Burgess Hill on Saturday, Tijan Jadama scoring the only goal of the game, heading home from a Luke Medley cross.
New signing Ryan Flack (pictured), a winger, has come off the bench in both matches and Blackman was delighted that they beat off competition to land the player from Cray Valley. Flack has also previously played for Welling, Tilbury, Chatham and Thamesmead. Blackman said: “Ryan has had lots of interest. He is an offensive player who plays anywhere in the attacking third and adds real quality to the group.”
His side will be looking to get over the midweek defeat when they travel to Ashford Town (Middlesex) in the FA Trophy second qualifying round.
