Homes with a touch of class

-

Want a house that’s so luxuriously art-deco that the Great Gatsby himself would feel at home? Pentland Homes selected Susan White, founder of awardwinning Phoenix Interior Design, to dress the show home for its Saxon Fields development at Cockering Road, Canterbury.

Susan and her team went to town, drawing inspiration from the artdeco style exterior to create a sumptuous dream home, richly appointed using textures, colours and statement pieces to enhance the home’s features inside and outut. “Pentland was very generous allowing me to flex those design muscles at this development,” Susan said, of the project which shes admits may be the most luxuriouss she has completed in Kent.

“We want people to walk in and think ‘wow, this is the an amazing interior.’ There is a reason why we have put every single piece in it. It is important to showcase the amazing interior.”

Think lacquer and lace, velvet and a relaxing colour palette with pieces sourced from across the world, from a Parisian lampshade to her piece de resistance – an ostrich featherr stand dard lamp, which Susan descr ribes as ‘the antique of the futu ure’.

“WWE like to put in statement p ieces so people can feel and touch t and see the products,” she s added.

“The rooms are beautiful, amazing sizes. It is all about the t opulence. Every detail has been b thought about, even down to o the mirrors in the hallways, th he unique artwork with ticks to the e local area.

“Bec cause art-deco will never date, it was s important to show items that aare timeless. We wanted to celebrate the house; that it is an amazing art-deco exterior and interior.”

The impressive ceiling heights at Saxon Fields have been accentuated with pieces which take the eye up, and even the shape of the dining chairs have been considered, so they are rounded, and upholstered legs so they appear to float.

One bedroom has been styled as a study to illustrate how many of us live today, regularly working from home, while the master bedroom even has two his and her’s dressing suites – complete with clothes and accessories - a pop-up TV and a lilypad art deco side table next to the chaise.

The development by leading house builder, Pentland Homes has also been created with access to green spaces, and more spacious living.

Properties at Saxon Fields start at £330,000 with a range of offers available. We took part in a virtual viewing but you can also attend a socially distant viewing. The show home is not yet for sale but you can book an appointment for inspiration if you want to create the look in your own Saxon Fields home. Call 01227 490228 or visit pentlandhomes.co.uk
