Bowl out on a late night

A bowl out was needed to decide the outcome between Gentil Knyght B and C teams in the Canterbury & District Bat and Trap League.

The B team won the match 2-1, on a night where team debutant and their 100th player, Graham Snow, scored a20.

With the time reaching 11.40pm, a bowl out was decided, Spencer Snow taking the only trap and securing victory for the B team. Stuart Nolan trapped four C team players in his 21 bowls.

Kestrels picked up the three points after defeating Isgcatholi­c Club 2-0 in Group A. Kestrels set 85 in the first leg, with Andrew Burden helping himself to 38, whilst Colin Burden got caught by James Dengate. Zoe Pond hit 13 for ISG.

In the second leg ISG mustered 17, Kestrels opener Colin Burden kept his nerve and rattled up the 18 for victory.

In Group B, Littlebour­ne Rec beat Golden Lion A 2-1. Nick Sargeant amassed 36 of his side’s 80-run first leg score. Amanda Parsons put up a valiant 18 but the Lions fell short with 48. The Lions roared back thanks to Chris Dardennes’ 10 not out in the second.

The third leg saw Rec’s Neil Hogbins’ 24 help his side tally up 46, Lions hit 34 with Daniel Boden helping himself to a 22. Daniel Boden also took five traps for the Lions, whilst Rec’s James Edwards replied with a four.

In a closely-fought Group C match, Alma lost the second leg against Castle A on a tie ball. Alma’s Paul Smith had his eye in as he took six traps in the game.
