Canterbury comfortabl­y beat St Lawrence & Highland Court in their Kent Cricket League Division 1 match on Saturday.

Jarryd Taig (57) hit a halfcentur­y for Canterbury as they posted 237-7 off their 45 overs.

In reply, St Lawrence were skittled out for just 78, with Ben Rutherford (3-22) and Oliver Hills (3-31) leading the bowling attack. Duncan Moore scored 66 for Canterbury 2nds but they were unable to defend 172 against Dartford 2nds. Matiss Siyambalap­itiya (71) top scored for Canterbury 3rds but they lost by five wickets to Willesboro­ugh. Promotion-chasing St Lawrence & Highland Court 2nds cinched a six-wicket win over Upchurch, Matt Hammond’s unbeaten 40 seeing them home after bowling the opposition out for just 75. Chestfield were all out for 159 and opponents Broadstair­s knocked the runs offin34ove­rs. Nonington lost by 24 runs against Harvel, all out for 237 as they chased 261-6. Dan Dawkins hit 86 while Joe Goldbacher made 43 not out.

The 2nds match between the sides was won by Nonington, successful­ly chasing down 201 thanks to Andy Smith’s unbeaten 65.

Jayden Denly claimed a fivewicket haul for Whitstable as they beat Catford & Cyphers by 143 runs. Denly earlier added 40 to a total of 254. Whitstable 2nds lost by five wickets to OD CUACO after being bowled out for 96. Faversham lost to Ash, the visitors completing a run chase in 45.1 overs after being set a target of 210. James Bridgland scored a half-century for Faversham. Ash opener Steve Laslett hit 53 but they got home thanks to Tom Laslett (46 not out) and Rob Milton (15 not out). St Lawrence & Highland Court 3rds comfortabl­y beat Littlebour­ne 3rds by 10 wickets, chasing down 64 in nine overs through Alex Hunter (46 not out) and George Coombs (21 not out). In the Kent Regional League, Sturry (134-9) won by 55 runs after bowling out Sheldwich for 79. Kyle Smith took 6-14 for Sturry. Herne Bay (234-7) beat Walmer 2nds by 68 runs. Hosts Walmer were 166 all out (Bilal Habibi 4-32). Preston & Elmstone won their friendly match against Kent Royals by six wickets. The Royals were bowled out for 44 with Rob Radford taking 4-15 for Preston.
