All to play for in final game

Canterbury set up a promotion decider as they beat relegated Sidcup in Kent Cricket League Division 1 on Saturday.

There are 15 points between third-placed Canterbury and Hayes in second ahead of a clash between the two sides this weekend and, with 18 points for a win, there is all to play for. Canterbury set up the showdown with a six-wicket success.

Sidcup were indebted to opener Mat Kilbey for his 104 not out in their total of 172-8. The Canterbury reply got off to a slow start but Jarryd Taig and Jarred Lysaught saw them home with unbeaten knocks of 77 and 43 respective­ly. Canterbury 2nds won at Gravesend 2nds in Division 1 2nd XI by 14 runs.

Ben Line and Charlie Vant joint top-scored for Canterbury with 27 in their 183-9 before Will Oates with 3-32, Luke Sullivan (2-20) and Louis Smith (2-15) did most of the damage with the ball.

Promoted Whitstable finished their Kent Cricket League Division 3 season in style with a 125-run success over Bexleyheat­h. Batting first, Byron Gould made 93 and Harrison Legg scored 84 to help Whitstable post 293-8.

In reply, Joshua Lock returned figures of 5-31 for Whitstable, supported by Jake Guinan’s 3-32, as Bexleyheat­h were all out for 168.

Whitstable 2nds beat HSBC by eight wickets.

St Lawrence & Highland won a low-scoring match at Linden Park by 13 runs in Kent Cricket League Division 1.

Figures of 3-16 from Linden Park’s Roshan Jayatissa helped restrict St Lawrence to 127 all out.

In reply, Linden Park were all out for 114 with the wickets shared around.

A magnificen­t 203 not out from opener Joseph Eves helped St Lawrence 2nds hammer Linden Park 2nds by 199 runs.

St Lawrence 3rds beat Folkestone 3rds but their 4ths lost to Worth. Relegated Chestfield were beaten by Old Wilsonians by five wickets despite Joseph Whittingto­n ending with figures of 4-36. Faversham will finish bottom in Division 5 as they suffered their 12th defeat of a forgettabl­e summer. Chasing Bexley 3rds’ total of 216 they were all out for just 101 in less than 28 overs to lose by 115 runs.
