Our first year at Canterbury House

-

2021 is almost over and it’s been quite a year, we have been open for 6 months and it has flown by. We have a management team who are working hard to ensure that we have everything we need and more. A care team who are more like family to us than carers and a lifestyle team that provide us with hours of fun and entertainment. Those working tirelessly behind the scenes, cooking, keeping house and maintaining the building do a fabulous job, you just have to look around to see how good they are at their job.

This year has had its ups and downs, we started with zoom calls and social distancing and by the

summer we were able to invite our families back inside our home. This summer gave us some semblance of normality back, we no longer had to see our families through windows, and we were once more able to get out into the community. The weather wasn’t always good, but we have had a wonderful time.

This autumn and winter we really made the most of the new, more relaxed guidance. We had family get togethers, Halloween, Bonfire

Night and Christmas events. We’ve crafted, we’ve baked, and we’ve been out and about,

looking at the festive lights and Christmas shopping. This Christmas was important to all of us, we had a lot to make up for following last year. We have no idea what 2022 is going to bring and how much we will be able to do but whatever happens, we know that we will be well looked after and constantly entertained. Everyone here at Canterbury House wishes you a very happy, prosperous, and healthy new year.
