Be king of the hill

-

Love it or hate it - Kings Hill is probably the most Marmite development in the county. To some people it may only seem like yesterday, but it’s actually 33 years ago that they first started building houses at Kings Hill - or Toy Town as many of its detractors love to label it.

The original idea back in the 1980s was for a multi-purpose community made up of both residential and office/business space on land formerly owned by RAF West Malling.

As times change there seems to have been less business space added than originally planned, but the number of houses has kept on growing.

For many outside the area, Kings Hill has become synonymous with gas guzzling 4x4s and having two Costa Coffees that are just yards apart.

For those living on the development though it offers somewhere you can work, rest and play without ever having to leave ‘the bubble’ if you wish.

As with most places in the county, house prices have risen by extraordinary amounts, but in Kings Hill they have always been particularly robust, despite the best efforts of Covid and the economy.

Now on the market is this five-bedroom house in Pearl Way. With a guide price of £1m to £1.25m it is one of only two homes currently on the market at Kings Hill priced more than £1m.

The executive detached family home is tucked away from the road behind trees in the heart of the development. It is just a short walk from the Discovery School one of Kings Hill’s three primary schools - and the cricket club.
