Littlebour­ne ease to victory in Senior Charity Cup final

Premier Division champions Littlebour­ne won the Faversham Senior Charity Cup with a 4-0 win over University of Kent Monument. Craig Swann, Ted Johnson, Aaron Garvey and Dan Tanner scored the goals for Littlebour­ne. Runners-up Chilham finished the season by defeating University of Kent, with substitute Andrew Hayward scoring the only goal. The University of Kent remain third.

AFC Herne Bay defeated Division 1 leaders Woodnesbor­ough to win the Faversham Junior Charity Cup thanks to a Reyce Marsh double plus goals from Dean Smith, Charlie Went and Spencer Richards. Woodnesbor­ough, two goals down at half-time, scored in the final quarter of the game through Luke Harris, Haydan

Richards and Tom Armstrong but it wasn’t enough as they lost 5-3. This Friday, Monkton will play AFC Herne Bay at Whitstable Town in the Whitstable Junior Charity Cup, kickoff at 7.30pm.

Two more finals will be held at the same venue on Saturday, Woodnesbor­ough play Barham with a 1pm kick-off in the Canterbury Junior Charity Cup before Littlebour­ne take on Chilham at 4.30pm in their Les & Sue Barleycorn Challenge Cup showdown at the Belmont.

The Les & Sue Barleycorn Challenge Cup has been named in memory of the league’s former chairman and his wife, with Mr Barleycorn having died in 2020.

He was the chairman of the East Kent Youth League for more than 40 years, chairman of the Canterbury & District League for 30 years, secretary of Bekesbourn­e FC for almost 50 years and a delegate on the Herne Bay & Whitstable League for 40 years.
