Edwards delivers goods

Michael Edwards claimed seven wickets in St Lawrence and Highland Court’s comprehens­ive 154-run win at Bromley Common in Division 1 of the Kent Cricket League on Saturday.

Edwards took 7-14 from 9.4 overs, and fellow opening bowler Jamie Hemphrey (3-34) did his bit, too. They were the only St Lawrence bowlers required as Bromley Common were 49 all out inside 20 overs.

Earlier, Michael Hales Jr (78 not out) top-scored to help St Lawrence reach 203-7 from their 50 overs.

Canterbury were beaten by 23 runs at Linden Park in the same division.

A Roshan Jayatissa (136) century guided Linden Park to 266-7 and, despite half-centuries from Jarred Lysaught (57) and Jarryd Taig (53), Canterbury were 243 all out.

Both Byron Gould (192) and Elliot Lewis (103) hit centuries in Whitstable’s high-scoring game against Leeds and Broomfield in Division 2.

Batting first, the pair took the score from 60-1 to 331-2. Stuart Drakeley also added a 38-ball 52 late on to guide Whitstable to a huge 450-8.

Leeds and Broomfield made a fair fist of the reply, although Josh Gould (3-26) got among the wickets and the batting team could only reach 265-9 from their 50 overs.

In Division 3, Chestfield were beaten by nine wickets by Upchurch.

Nicholas Barlow top-scored (64) batting first as they were 167 all out in the 50th over.

Having lost opener Lewis Ball for two, Nathan Moore (78 not out) and Aaron Walker (67 not out) saw Upchurch home.

Canterbury 2nds enjoyed a massive 185-run success over Bexley in 2nd XI Division 1.

Ben Line (106) struck a century while opener Matiss Siyambalap­itiya offered support with 48 to get them to 308-8 from 50 overs.

A collective effort with the ball saw Aaron Hopkins take three wickets for a single run from his only over, Ben Cooper impressing with 3-13 and Ben Nesbitt end with 2-26 from his 10 economical overs.

Joshua Julian scored a vital 46 not out for St Lawrence 2nds in Division 1 in their win over Beckenham.

They were in trouble at 98-9 but eventually reached 166 all out in 45 overs thanks to Julian’s contributi­on.

With the ball, Ben Trott (3-29), Culum Annand (2-15) and Harrison Pack (2-4) did well to restrict Beckenham to 138 all out.

Whitstable 2nds scored big runs in their comprehens­ive success away to Catford Wanderers in Division 2.

Batting first, opener Harry Fulton (68) and Freddie Fulton (113) got them to 345-6 from their 50 overs.

Nobody got going for Catford in reply and Darrell Carter (2-3), Joe Clements (3-16) and Scott Dale (4-14) did well, with Catford 114 all out in the 35th over.

Chestfield 2nds won by eight wickets against Upchurch in Division 3.

Brian Moody-smith (4-21) was the pick of the Chestfield bowlers as Upchurch set a target of 141. They reached their goal with ease, mainly thanks to Paul Gibson’s86notout.
