School places available at The Whitstable School Apply now for September 2024
It has been a real pleasure to become the new Headteacher of The Whitstable School and to be welcomed so warmly by the pupils, parents and local community. The school is now fully embarking on its next phase of school improvement to ensure it enhances its position as the district’s best performing non selective school. I am passionate about a strong creative vocational pathway being just as important as our academic one. As such, we are expanding our GCSE offer to include construction and investing in science, technology, engineering and mathematics enrichment. We have also broadened our A-level offer to include a suite of new exciting qualifications and formed a partnership agreement with Football Futures to grow regional football talent. The appointment of new roles such as enrichment coordinator, will allow a greater offering of more trips and rewards across the school to widen experiences and celebrate success. I firmly believe that if pupils enjoy school, have broad opportunities and enrichment then they will excel. The behaviour at the school is good, our aim is to be outstanding by explicitly teaching behaviour for learning and continuing to build a well staffed support structure so all our pupils can thrive. Student leadership is an essential component for this, so we will ensure all students across all year groups have the opportunities to lead on events, present to others and manage teams of people. A range of new exciting roles have been created to focus on this and a redesigned curriculum model is prepared for September to prioritise leadership skills.
I am very much looking forward to welcoming the community into the school and working closely with local primary schools, businesses and charities to share resources and celebrate the work and successes of our brilliant young people. A range of open events and exhibitions are being planned and I welcome all to attend. Details will be published on our website. I want to thank you for your continued support in ensuring The Whitstable School is firmly on track to excellence.
