Will power makes difference in Strike Force’s favour

-

Will Jones’ double helped Faversham Strike Force under14 Thunder to a 3-2 win over Hernhill.

He finished clinically after being sent clear by Jack Wyles and then made the second for himself, tackling the away goalkeeper before he tapped in. Hernhill showed great spirit in wet and windy conditions to pull level from two goals down but Archie Johnson found a late winner when he rounded the on-rushing keeper and rifled home from a tight angle. Riley Scamp claimed an assist and put in a dynamic all-round performance to be named Strike Force’s player-of-thematch.

Under-11 Lightning played out a closely-fought and highquality game against Sandwich, in which Reuben Wilkinson scored and was named player-of-the-match for his performance up front. Zac Maguire claimed another goal.

XL FC provided an extra-large challenge to under-10 Lionesses, who defended strongly as a team and benefited from a mature midfield display by Molly Wilson.

Thalia Edwards was voted top player on the day for her hard work, strong tackling and threat going forward. Under-10 Lightning faced Bromley Green in a game that saw Felix Ladd named playerof-the-match for his work-rate and creativity while Ethan

Moss scored both his team’s goals.

Jessie Jefferys was handed the player-of-the-match trophy for under-9 Lionesses against Anchorians Hearts after a superb performance in goal. Caitlyn Bassett provided their attacking threat and was rewarded with an excellent brace. Maisie Allison made it a hattrick of quintets as she hit the net five times for a third week in succession for under-8 Pumas against Margate. Olivia Moss starred in defence in a player-ofthe-match performance. Under-8 Thunder won Saturday’s league tournament after a series of tough games. Toby Cassell was named their player-of-the-tournament for his fantastic defending.
