Trophy time for Canterbury!

-

The first full bowls fixtures week of the new season was busy as Canterbury ladies edged out three triples from Deal BC 46-42, despite losing on two rinks.

Later on the same day, they had the chairman of the Forest of Blean Bowling League, Alan Jordan, come from Herne Bay to present the club with the trophy for winning that league in 2023.

Having received the trophy, Canterbury faced Whitstable in the first Forest of Blean match this season and enjoyed a comfortable victory, winning on five of the six rinks and taking seven points out of eight. A friendly with Kent Police saw a reversal of fortunes and Canterbury failed to win on any of the five rinks, losing 102-47. Matters improved when, in a six-triple friendly, they came out 136-101 victors against New Romney.

There was also a ladies’ fun afternoon on Friday, which saw a large turnout of bowlers. Canterbury BC are to hold an all-comers coffee morning and mini-fair between 10am and midday on Saturday.
