ON APRIL 22, over 230 in­de­pen­dent record shops across the UK – and thou­sands more across the world – will open their doors just like any other Satur­day. But on this par­tic­u­lar day, there’ll be queues of peo­ple hop­ing to get their hands on rare vinyl made ex­clu­sively for the 10th Record Store Day – a yearly cel­e­bra­tion of the best kind of shop.

This year, which is sup­ported by BBC Mu­sic, will fea­ture over 500 re­leases fea­tur­ing bands and artists from ab­so­lutely ev­ery mu­si­cal genre you can imag­ine.think­ing of get­ting in­volved but don’t know where to start? We’ve combed the list to bring you the best 10 records re­leased that day. Be pre­pared to wres­tle if you want to get your paws on any of this lot…

1 MAL­LORY KNOX – WIRED

this seven-inch fea­tures the ti­tle-track of Mal­lory Knox’ new al­bum and is backed with a demo ver­sion of 89. It’s avail­able on trans­par­ent green vinyl and comes with a poster, too.

2 BABYMETAL – METAL RE­SIS­TANCE

Metal Re­sis­tance is the sec­ond al­bum from Babymetal. Come Record Store Day, it’ll be avail­able in lim­ited quan­ti­ties as a dou­ble pic­ture disc. a sweet RSD ex­clu­sive, there.

3 BUL­LET FOR MY VALEN­TINE – DON’T NEED YOU

this 2016 sin­gle has been shrunk down to a trans­par­ent red 10-inch. Don’t lis­ten to the etched B-side, though, as it’ll ab­so­lutely wreck your sty­lus.

4 THE KUT – KUT EP

lim­ited to an eye-twitch­ing 500 copies, this ep by lon­don-based grunge trio the Kut fea­tures the songs I Want you Ma­niac, Bad Man, I Don’t Need ther­apy and Mario. It’s avail­able as a pic­ture disc. Nice.

5 MAY­HEM – DE MYSTERIIS DOM SATHANAS

you can read about this in­flu­en­tial black metal al­bum on p53. Own it on a lim­ited-edi­tion pic­ture disc and watch that church spin around as evil spills from your speak­ers. a re-is­sue of their 1987 ep Deathcrush is also avail­able as a pic­ture disc on the day.

6 PEARL JAM – STATE OF LOVE AND TRUST / BREATH

these songs first ap­peared on the 1992 film Sin­gles sound­track. Fun fact: ac­tor Matt Dil­lon’s wig in the film is made from some of ed­die Ved­der’s hair. Here are the songs on a gate­fold seven-inch. Hair not in­cluded.

7 GIN­GER WILDHEART – CLOUT EP

this 10-inch was avail­able for those who’d sub­scribed to the Ge­ordie’s Songs & Words pledge in 2015. Here it is, on white vinyl with five prints and is lim­ited to just 1,000 copies.

8 GER­ARD WAY – INTO THE CAVE WE WAN­DER

Orig­i­nally given away on cas­sette at New york Comic Con in 2016, here’s an­other chance to own two new Ger­ard Way songs on a 12-inch pic­ture disc. Into the Cave We Wan­der and Pogi’s Cav­ern were both co-writ­ten with for­mer My Chem­i­cal Ro­mance guitarist Ray toro and only 5,000 copies ex­ist. Plus, you get a 32-page comic and a poster, too! Get queu­ing now, ba­si­cally.

9 SU­GAR – COP­PER BLUE

this alt.rock clas­sic was re­leased 25 years ago, and to cel­e­brate it’s been lov­ingly re-pressed onto three slabs of de­li­cious vinyl. the open­ing riff to Help­less is worth the price alone. Dou­ble that, even.

10 AGAINST ME! – STABITHA CHRISTIE

you’ll have to catch a flight to the U.S. to stand a chance of get­ting a hold of this seven-inch pic­ture disc, which fea­tures two brand-new tracks: Stabitha Christie and First High Of the Morn­ing. there’s only 4,000 of these in the world, so good luck.
