FOR FANS OF: Foo Fighters, Metallica, Black Stone Cherry

Something hits you during the first minute of this epic live DVD and CD set from Danish rockers Volbeat: in their homeland, the slick-haired rockabilly metallers are massive. Let’s Boogie captures them playing to nearly 50,000 fans at a stadium that’s normally home to Denmark’s national football team. This is a pin-sharp, pyroenhanced celebration of the band’s success, and boasts a mammoth 26 songs. Such profligacy has the downside of highlighting how same-sounding much of it is, but you forget that when Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway makes an uproarious guest appearance on Evelyn. Lars Ulrich’s star turn – playing drums on a cover of Enter Sandman – is another treat, and it’s fun to hear him speaking to the crowd in his native Danish. The reasons for Volbeat’s immensity may elude some, but those who have followed them this far will find their faith generously rewarded here. STEVE BEEBEE
