AT FIRST LIGHT
Ex- BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE drummer MOOSE introduces his heavy new band, KILL THE LIGHTS…
THEY’RE MADE UP OF LOADS OF OTHER BANDS
Featuring Michael ‘Moose’ Thomas himself, plus Throw The Fight vocalist James Clark on the mic, Still Remains’ Jordan Whelan and Threat Signal’s Travis Montgomery on guitar, and Davey Richmond of Glamour Of The Kill taking bass and extra vocal duties, BFMV’S former drummer and cofounder (who left the group in 2017) recruited a bunch of cool names for the project.
AND IT ALL CAME TOGETHER VERY NATURALLY
“Me and Jordan have been doing this for well over a year now – coming up to two years,” explains Moose. “I’ve known him for years and he opened for Bullet with Still Remains numerous times. That was an obvious choice. And from there it all came together pretty quickly, considering we didn’t have any songs at first!”
THEIR SONGS WERE WRITTEN QUICKLY AND EASILY
“Jordan sent me, like, 30 songs, and I was like, ‘Oh, okay!’” laughs the drummer. “He’s got way more than that, but I was just like, ‘I can’t concentrate on anything more than 15.’ We then wrote about four more songs, and it was so easy. Some songs were written – well most of them, actually – in about 10 minutes each! It was really quick.”
THE BAND’S FIRST SINGLE, THE FACELESS, IS OUT NOW
Not only is it the perfect introduction to Kill The Lights – killer riffs and the sort of musicianship you’d expect from the names involved – it’s also got a suitably creepy video. Featuring a character without a face (we see what they did there…), a graveyard and a load of blood, it’s a spooky sign of what’s to come.
THEIR FOCUS IS ON SIMPLY WRITING GREAT HEAVY METAL
“We didn’t want to sound like anything – whatever came out, came out,” Moose enthuses of KTL’S noise. “Whatever came out was ‘us’, and there wasn’t really talk of ‘softer’ stuff. Like The Faceless: it’s just a fun heavy-metal song. And it’s pretty catchy!”
2019 WILL DELIVER THEIR DEBUT ALBUM, PLUS A TOUR
“Our plan right now is to release The Faceless, and then the album will be coming later on this year,” Moose says. “And we just want to tour, tour, tour. We want to get out there as much as possible, and I want to do what I do best, which is tour and play drums!”
