Knit Today Magazine - - Yarn Reviews -

We love Lion Brand’s Gold Leaf yarn. It adds just the right amount of luxury to your everyday makes. You can choose from Purple, Red, Black or Ivory as your base colour, each flecked with rich gold. Melanie’s bramble stitch pattern has an open-weave so pick a lining that matches your yarn colour perfectly.

MAKING UP 1 Weave in all loose ends. 2 Fold knitted piece in half and stitch side seams closed using mattress stitch. 3 Using a sewing needle and sewing thread, stitch the zipper to the opening in the knitted piece. 4 Fold the lining fabric in half so that its shape is the same as the knitted purse, and stitch the side seams closed so that the lining pocket will be slightly smaller than the knitted piece. 5 With wrong sides together slip the lining pocket inside the knitted purse and pin at the opening, turning the raw edge of the lining under. Stitch the lining to the zipper tape. Metallic flecks are addicitve, so you may like to hear this yarn comes in black and silver too We recommend that when it comes to adding your zip, you hand sew it in place This lovely purse pattern is from the book Big NeedleKnits, by Melanie Porter, published by Ryland Peters and Small (RRP £12.99).
