There’s lots to do in this pretty market
town once you’ve finished your walk
Garstang became the world’s first Fairtrade town in 2000 and many shops, cafes and restaurants stock Fairtrade products. Although the town faces stiff competition from its larger neighbours Preston and Lancaster, it is more than holding its own. It has a wealth of independent shops and a bustling weekly market, which started in the early 1300s and now has over 70 stalls. There’s also a Booths superstore and a range of small independent businesses offer everything from classy bespoke jewellery to health foods.
